Facebook Says My Mom's Hometown Has an Illegal Name

Facebook: Dumb and Dumber

It’s 5:30 pm left coast time on Friday, Dec. 17.  I decided to check in with Facebook to see what’s new.  Imagine my surprise when I was asked a bunch of questions — ending with the ubiquitous “security question.”  Somehow, Facebook managed to select questions that represent a new low in obscurity.  Here are your choices.  (Keep reading, it gets worse.)

I finally figured out that I knew where my mom had been born.  I typed the four-letter name of the small Kansas town.  Then I saw this (click the image to see what I’m talking about):

Not only is the screen ugly (to put it mildly), but … my mom’s birthplace is illegal according to Facebook.  Apparently cities and towns with fewer than five letters in their names are verboten.  (I could have gone for my first pet’s name, but that only has three characters.)

This company is valued at how much?  Right now, it looks to me like any non-negative value is way too high.
